Calcium Hydroxide

short description:

Hydrated lime or hydrated lime It is a white hexagonal powder crystal. At 580℃, the water loss becomes CaO. When calcium hydroxide is added to water, it is divided into two layers, the upper solution is called clarified lime water, and the lower suspension is called lime milk or lime slurry. The upper layer of clear lime water can test carbon dioxide, and the lower layer of cloudy liquid lime milk is a building material. Calcium hydroxide is a strong alkali, has bactericidal and anti-corrosion ability, has a corrosive effect on skin and fabric.

Specifications provided

White powder Industrial grade (content ≥ 85% / 90%/ 95%)

Food grade (content ≥ 98%)

Calcium hydroxide is a white fine powder at room temperature, slightly soluble in water, and its clarified aqueous solution is commonly known as clarified lime water, and the milky suspension composed of water is called milk of lime. The solubility decreases with the increase of temperature. Insoluble in alcohol, soluble in ammonium salt, glycerol, and can react with acid to produce the corresponding calcium salt. At 580 ° C, it decomposes into calcium oxide and water. Calcium hydroxide is a strong alkali and has a corrosive effect on skin and fabrics. However, due to its small solubility, the harm degree is not as great as sodium hydroxide and other strong bases. Calcium hydroxide can interact with acid-base indicators: purple litmus test solution is blue in the presence of calcium hydroxide, and colorless phenolphthalein test solution is red in the presence of calcium hydroxide.

Product Usage

Farm sterilization

In the vast rural areas, pig houses and chicken houses are often disinfected with hydrated lime powder after cleaning. In winter, the trees on both sides of the road should be brushed with lime slurry more than one meter high to protect the trees, sterilization, and prevent spring tree diseases and insects. When growing edible fungi, it is also necessary to disinfect the planting soil with a certain concentration of lime water.

Bricklaying & painting the walls

When building a house, hydrated lime is mixed with sand, and the sand is evenly mixed and used for laying bricks to make them stronger. When the house is finished, the walls will be painted with lime paste. The lime paste on the walls will absorb carbon dioxide from the air, undergo a chemical reaction, and become hard calcium carbonate, making the walls white and hard.

Water treatment

The sewage produced in the production process of chemical plants, as well as some water bodies are acidic, and hydrated lime can be sprinkled into the treatment ponds to neutralize the acidic substances. Hydrated lime is also cheaper from an economic point of view. Therefore, many chemical plants are used to treat acidic sewage.

Calcium tablet production (food grade)

There are nearly 200 kinds of calcium carbonate, calcium citrate, calcium lactate and calcium gluconate on the market. Calcium hydroxide as a raw material is widely used in calcium production industry, among which the common calcium gluconate, in our country are currently produced by fermentation, the process is: starch after saccharification with Aspergillus Niger fermentation, fermentation liquid with lime milk (calcium hydroxide) after concentrated, crystallized, refined calcium gluconate finished products.

Buffer; Neutralizer; Curing agent

It can be used in beer, cheese and cocoa products. Due to its pH regulation and curing effect, it can also be used in the synthesis of medicine and food additives, the synthesis of high-tech biological material HA, the synthesis of feed additive VC phosphate, as well as the synthesis of calcium stearate, calcium lactate, calcium citrate, additives in the sugar industry and water treatment and other high-grade organic chemicals. It is helpful for the preparation of edible meat semi-finished products, konjac products, beverage products, medical enema and other acidity regulators and calcium sources.
